Speaker: Rev. Jami Yandle

The Rev. Jami Yandle (they/them) is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary and is a Board Certified Chaplain. Previously, they served as a healthcare chaplain working for hospice for many years.

Rev. Yandle has a passion for social justice and has a wide range of experience including being a Protest Chaplain at Zuccotti Park amid Occupy Wall Street, was elected and served as a Democratic Party Central Committee Representative for the Lucas County Board of Elections, and volunteered with Equality Ohio during the Why Marriage Matters Ohio campaign – helping to lead faith organizers in supportive steps which ensured passage of Marriage Equality by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Rev. Yandle enjoys facilitating workshops related to anti-oppression, chaplaincy, mental health, and trauma at regional, institutional, religious, spiritual, and private education sectors across the United States.

They initiated and facilitated the revision of the Unitarian Universalist Second Source to honor words and deeds of “prophetic people” rather than “prophetic women and men” in 2018. Most recently, Rev. Yandle joined the board of the Texas Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry. Additionally, they serve the UUA as a Hope for Us Conflict Team Coach.

Coming Home 2022

The water communion or ceremony is a uniquely UU ritual first created by UU women leaders in 1980. As we mingle water together from many different sources, we symbolize a coming home of sorts, a return to each other’s company, as all water in nature gathers together, first in raindrops, then creeks and rivers, and … Continue reading Coming Home 2022

What August Taught Us

Rev. Jami and Corinna created “Unworship August”, in which small groups were heard from as questions highlighting different parts of Unitarian Universalism were posed during worship at all four services in August. We did a little visioning, learning, and a lot of fellowship. Come hear what you had to say, in this August recap.

Unworship August

Come join us for “Unworship August“!  We will be gathering together for services at the usual time in August (10:30 am), but services will have a small group focus with much more interaction with the congregation. This is part of the work Rev. Jami & Corinna are doing in helping us to slow down and … Continue reading Unworship August

Green Light

Green light! This is part II of “Red Light, Green Light” services taking place during the first two Sundays in July, which will serve as an outline of the work we will be doing together in August. We will explore building and going forth into our communities and living out our mission in the community and world.

Red Light

Red light! Sometimes you have to slow down to speed up. In August, our fellowship will be participating in a process together called “Unworship August”. We will spend our time together on Sundays learning about core values and why we are churching, and how. This service will focus on slowing down and pausing to hold … Continue reading Red Light

God Bless Texas

I moved to Texas about a year ago, and I have discovered it is in fact true: God blessed Texas! And, we have so much work to do to honor these blessings! From my role on the board of the Texas UU Justice Ministry, let’s count our blessings and, with gratitude, look at the obligation … Continue reading God Bless Texas
