Speaker: Rev. Art Severance
Rev. Art Severance has retired after almost 30 years in ministry and returned to San Antonio, where he served as minister at First UU Church for 16 years. He was recently named Minister Emeritus. Art began his ministry as part time minister at 2 small Fellowships in Pennsylvania. Before being called to ministry he worked as a counselor in Residential Treatment for communities such as Developmentally Delayed, Emotionally Disturbed Adolescents, and Family Therapy Psychiatric Hospital.
Originally from New Hampshire, he has been married to his wife, Cathie, since 1973, has 3 married daughters and 5 grandchildren. He has served congregations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California, Colorado, Texas, New York, and Ohio either as interim, part or full-time or Developmental minister. He has served in Texas on the old District Board, given the Sunset Talks at SWUUSI in 1999, served as a representative on the old district’s Ministerial Settlement, and currently serves on the board of UU Retired Ministers & Partners Association.
He is also a folksinger & songwriter and has a CD available titled “Listen to the Whirlwind.”
