Unitarian Universalism is rooted in the idea that a single heart can change the world, and all of our hearts acting in loving concert cannot fail. Our social justice efforts are a fundamental part of our congregation our Social Justice Team leads the way to affect positive change and break down divisions, eliminate isolation and encourage the interconnectedness of life.
Our inclusive congregation also partners with various organizations within the area and actively engages in our community.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Our Social Justice Team
5 Steps of Social Justice: Educate, Service, Witness, Advocacy, and Community Organizing
Our Social Justice Team advocates for Racial Justice, Economic Justice, Education, Environmental and Climate Justice, Social Services, LGBTQ+ Justice, and Justice for Immigrants. We actively partner with local organizations specializing in different areas of justice advocacy because it truly takes a village to build beloved community.
The Social Justice Team is always looking for new members and volunteers.

Little FREE Pantry
We are proud of our neighborhood Little FREE Food and Supply Pantry. Donated food, hygiene supplies, and other useful items appear "magically" to help local residents. No questions asked.

Our Community Knows You Care!
Many thanks for your continued support of our Little Food Pantry, especially YOU, who silently restocks the box, in addition to what we collect on Sundays.
Navigation Services of Georgetown
People experiencing the trauma of living unhoused or facing eviction often are stymied by the obstacles of our current government and legal systems. They don’t know how to navigate these systems or who to ask for help.
We fill a current gap in local social services – mainly helping people get an ID. We meet clients “where they are” and assist them with online applications, with transportation to appointments or interviews, and pay the fees associated for new identification documents.
Sometimes we go the extra mile and accompany a client to meet with their banking institution, with Social Security Administration, or with Texas Workforce. By providing clients with a temporary mailing address through our services, they then can apply for identification documents. Having an ID is a pathway for a person to apply for a job, to acquire an apartment, or access social service benefits -- all which improve a person's living condition.
We are volunteers operating under the non-profit organization of GTX CONNECT and through a collaboration of churches, such as San Gabriel UU Fellowship. For more information, send an email to

Side With Love
Side with Love is a public advocacy campaign sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Association that seeks to harness love’s power to stop oppression.
When we ground our spirits, grow our skills, and act strategically for justice in deep relationship with each other and our movements, we choose to Side With Love.
At festivals or marches, we stand out when in a crowd and sometimes people ask us "who are you with?" It gives us a chance to talk about our faith community and what we stand for.
Share-The-Plate
Several times throughout the year we have a Social Justice Sunday Service where we "Share The Plate" with a partner justice organization. Any loose change, dollars, or donations marked "Share The Plate" collected that Sunday will go towards the fund.
Look for the sign “Certified Wildlife Habitat” in our SGUUF Sanctuary garden! We have met our goal of meeting the five requirements for this certification of “Food, Water, Cover, Places to Raise Young and Sustainable Practices”. Our Habitat Team Goal is to create and maintain gardens that provide a habitat for wildlife and we love to share pictures and time outside with all members and visitors to celebrate sightings of birds, bees, butterflies, caterpillars, snails, lizards, small mammals, etc.
