When Someone told me that I live in a Fantasyland, I nearly fell off of my Unicorn, or How to Participate Joyfully in the Sorrows of the World

This title describes the culmination of Earles’ recent trip to Bhutan to explore “Gross National Happiness” and my many talks and presentations I have given to our students in recent years that they must learn how “to follow their own bliss” rather than blindly carrying out the wishes of their unschooled, ill-informed parents. This process is much like our UU Life-journeys, and the students are making all kinds of discoveries about helping others. As the title implies, one’s happiness derives from practicing kindness, serving, and helping…and begins with simply acknowledging others with a smile. I now consciously practice making others happy every chance I get.
