We will attempt to weave our monthly themes of “Holding History” and Recognizing Native American Heritage throughout our upcoming service, as well as be mindful of our principles that we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, while we search for truth and meaning. On November 28, you will note that the sermon format is a bit different! You are invited to sit at the table, so to speak, with our guest John Layman, who is an Elder with the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. John had a long career with Northwest Airlines and in his retirement is living in Sun City. Michelle Augustine stumbled across a photo of John, along with a brief description of his involvement with the Potawatomis. Since then, John and Michelle have had a few conversations, after which John agreed to talk to us for our November service. We think that you will find his story as a Potawatomi offers a different perspective than what you might expect.
