Freeze Night Shelter to Open Again at SGUUF
With temperatures falling into the twenties next week, Helping Hands Georgetown is requesting SGUUF to open again our facilities as a cold night refuge for the unsheltered in our community. The Board has approved the operation of this freeze night shelter for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights next week.
Michelle Augustine is now looking for volunteers from our congregation to serve as welcoming hosts when the shelter is opened at 7 pm, as drivers to transport the unsheltered in the downtown area to our church, and for overnight monitors. Please contact Michelle at (512) 825-9985 if you can help with one of these volunteer staffing jobs. Helping Hands will again provide the cots and blankets for the shelter and other churches in Georgetown are being asked to provide warm meals for the nights of operation.
