Dear San Gabriel Unitarian Universalist Fellowship,
It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that I inform you that I will end my time as your minister at the end of December of 2023. As of January, I will continue to serve this community and all of our UU Congregations in a different capacity as I transition to full-time employment with your Unitarian Universalist Association.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the ways you have championed our work together. We accomplished a lot in my few years at SGUUF, from bylaw updates to care packages sent to FL to fighting for freedom at the capitol. We have caused a lot of “good trouble” together. I am proud of how we have grown together, and I know that you will continue to live into your mission in the years to come, living your values out loud in this community which needs you.
It is standard practice that we do not talk for two years after my final day at SGUUF, which is December 26, 2023. Know that I will be cheering you on from the sidelines and watching all the good things you are about to do.
The next three months will be spent working with the board to say goodbye and figure out what the most immediate next steps are. Sarah and the Board will be working with Congregational Life Field Staff to keep continuity during the transition and decide what leadership might look like. Natalie Briscoe and Cameron Young will continue to hold the congregation through a period of dreaming and visioning as you decide what the future holds for you.
Although I have been a minister for years prior to my time at SGUUF, this was my first time experiencing the ministry of parish life, and I will be forever grateful to you all for taking a chance on me. Please keep taking chances and trying something new; it will serve you well in the future.
I hope you are proud of the work we have done together, and I look forward to the good justice-making we will do in our new context in the future.
In faith,
