Online Service – Showing the Way

The life stories of people from within and without our faith tradition are all around us, surrounding us with love and hope and courage in a great cloud of witnesses. All that we have to do is let our hearts and minds be open to their presence. This week we will do that by remembering the life of Unitarian minister Norbert Capek. You may know that name in the context of the annual Flower Ceremony that many Unitarian Universalist congregations celebrate, usually in the spring or early summer. We will have our own Flower Festival, as Rev. Capek called it, next week. First, though, I want to tell you the story of this remarkable man and his amazing spiritual journey. Capek is a perfect example of someone who beckons to us in these troubled times with helpful hints, stories of perseverance, and tales of seemingly fathomless faith that can help us navigate our way through our own dark times.
