Breaking Open the Social Order

For nineteen hundred years Christianity as an institution lived with a modicum of comfort with prejudices based on gender, race, class and sexual orientation. Things began to change in the 20th Century with the advent of Humanism. Today as we celebrate Black History Month we’ll ask what happened that resulted in the rise of human rights. Perhaps we’ll find some connection in our own lives to that breakthrough in the social order. Perhaps we’ll find some deeper meaning in our history so that we can see and celebrate progress. Let’s gather to discover the element of Perseverance called Breakthrough.
