Being an Ally by Chuck Collins – Social Justice Sunday & Father’s Day

Each of us has worth and dignity, and that worth includes our gender and our sexuality. As Unitarian Universalists (UUs), we not only open our doors to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, we value diversity of sexuality and gender and see it as a spiritual gift. We create inclusive religious communities and work for LGBTQ justice and equity as a core part of who we are. All of who you are is sacred. During our Chat session today, we will hear the personal trauma and success story of a local family and their transgender child.

Join us for the last Social Justice Sunday Service of this fiscal year!  During the month of June, we uplift our LGBTQ+ community.  Our Chat Session guest is the dynamic Jo Ivester, who has a moving story of her own as a mother of a transgender adult son.  Jo has written a book, “Once A Girl, Always A Boy” and scripted a play based on that book.
Jo, along with her husband and others including Southwestern University students, has been the force in creating Georgetown Pride in 2023.

We also want to honor all of our Fathers, Grandfathers, and Father Figures on this Father’s Day.

See you Sunday!
