Returning to One Another Water Communion

As we mingle water together from many different sources, we symbolize a coming home of sorts, a return to each other’s company, as all water in nature gathers together, first in raindrops, then creeks and rivers, and finally in lakes and oceans. We too, are drawn together and we want to celebrate that impulse.

How poignant this feels right now, to try to celebrate a return to our fellowship – at least in the physical sense- when we are still thwarted in doing so.  Our separate waters are being kept apart.  How do we find meaning in this ritual, even now? Where is the relevancy? Perhaps by returning to the origin of this ritual, we can find some answers.
