Online Service – Soulmates: Jesus and Buddha – Meditation and Prayer

I believe that the great stories of religion are mythological, which doesn’t mean they are untrue. It means they are a particular kind of cosmic poetry where the human passage, the human story, is put in personal images so we can discover them in our own lives. They also illustrate the great themes of humanity and the deep processes of life. These great stories express the deeper experiences we have of coming up from the cosmos, being an expression of the cosmos, and of being inter-connected with every other being. There are deep realities that we really can’t have a vocabulary for. It’s the art of life; we need poetry, we need symbols, because literal words don’t necessarily take us there.
